A great dystopian novel! This novel has society made up according to each person's personality and utmost virtue. There are the Abnegation (a group that is always in servant mode, selfless, serving and helping all others in society), Erudite (the intellectual group that believes they are the most intelligent part of society, Amity (the peaceful group), Candor (the honest, even if it hurts), and Dauntless (the bravest of all, willing to take risks and very adventurous).
Set in Chicago, Beatrice Pryor, sixteen has to choose which faction of society she will devote her life to for the rest of her life. Does she choose to remain a member of the faction she came from Abnegation or does she go to another faction? Her decision surprises her. She discovers something about herself in the testing, and the initiation that follows that could prove deadly to her if anyone were to find out. Full of twists and turns and leaves you wanting more. Very much like, the Hunger Games, Tris (Beatrice's new name) is a strong willed heroine that everyone roots for. I am currently reading the sequel, Insurgent, and so far it does not disappoint. It begins right where we left off in the first one.
